Heavy Heart
I have a heavy heart at the moment, earlier in the year I had a nasty car crash, my car was hit side on, spun round and flipped over, landed on the roof about 35 - 40ft from the point of impact. Nothing broken, but an awful lot of soft tissue damage. I'm still having a lot of problems with my neck, shoulders, chest and back and having osteopathy/physio on a weekly basis and will be doing so for at least the next 18months. I have been off work for about 5 months so far. but at least I get to do a lot of tort watching!
So very reluctantly I am having to part with some of the tortoises, some days I just can't do everthing I would want to and feel like I am not paying them enough attention. most of the TT ones will be rehomed back through the TT, and I will also be parting with my redfoots and one of my Indian Stars, (and possibly our sully) Richard has been very very supportive and continues to do all the bending down on the weed hunts, cleaning the tables and putting the tortoises out each day for me. He has insisted that I take things very slowly and that includes parting with the tortoises. The car that was

Laraine I am so sorry what a horrible shock for you.
It must have been a really hard decision for you to make and I really do wish you well with finding them new homes. It cant be easy recovering from an accident like that psychologically and physically. Good luck with everything x |

Oh Laraine I am sorry to hear what you have been through and that you are still suffering . Very sad too to give up your tortoises Hope you can work something out and do not give up as soft tissue damage and bone bruising can take a year or more, so hopefully it will improve

Thank you, I am keeping some with Richards help, so he is not getting out of weed picking just yet! I dont think I could cope if I didn't have any to watch and relax with. the big girls are going on a wee holiday for a little while with a friend who doesn't have any torts at all, so no problems with cross contamination.

Oh you poor thing Laraine, it must have been terrifying.
I really hope that your physio works wonders and gets you match-fit in super short time. Very sorry to hear about your torts too Last edited by Bindi; 26-06-2010 at 08:53 PM. |
