Default Wireless cctv camera and receiver

My last one from Ebay lasted about 5 years so got this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Friedland-Re...=wireless+cctv from Amazon and it's a good replacement, better than my old one too

Alan, would this be suitable for me to set up in the greenhouse pointing at the laying area? I want something so that I can see what is going on without having to disturb the torts, do you need anything else, such as leads/wires? or is this the whole thing?

Just be mindful with these wireless camera's that:
a) the signal is very easily intercepted by 'anyone'
b) they are likely to interfere with your home wireless internet and/or wireless phones

If you can, wired cameras are the way to go

Hi Racing Snake - is there a wired camera that you would recommend?

I've been thinking about getting something up running.

Depends, in mine I've got a simple bullet cam from maplins... but I've then got it plugged into my main 'house' cctv, so I can watch our tortoises remotely too.
But you can plug the camera straight into the TV if all you want is to see them.

The downside of wired systems, is of course the cabling/routing and getting it back into the house. I drilled a dirty great hole through our living room wall to get all the wires into the house.

We did have a wireless system initially, but it did indeed knock out our wireless internet, so went down the wired route instead.

I've got this one in our hedgehog house which produces good results for the price:

If you 'must' go wireless, then look at IP cameras instead of the fixed RF camera's, as these are more secure and you can also view them on the internet/phone - but they are a lot more bulky.

I have not long fitted a wired system CCTV from digital direct cost about £1100 for 8 camera system. Fitted it myself and works great much to my wife's annoyance as while I'm offshore I can see how they are and let her know if there is anything wrong. It's linked to my phone, iPad and laptop. Records on all 8 cameras 24 hrs a day.
Very good investment considering how valuable my tortoises are.

That's because I have a terabyte hard drive and different types of camera including zoom lenses which were not cheap. It also depends how much cable you need as well. So yes if I had chosen a smaller hard drive and standard cameras I too could have had it for half the price!

Fair do's.
I too have a 1TB HDD, but only 1 zoom camera (at 770TVL), my others are 600TVL though, so far beyond the capability of the recorder.

My only note on spending loads on CCTV set ups, is that if your recorder is a D1 recorder, as 99% of them are, then you can spend 10 grand on a system and it won't record any better quality than a £100 recorder.

Andy your set-up sounds fantastic. Though if I had one that good I might want to spend all day watching it remotely, when I'm supposed to be doing my job!
