I've put a spider plant in my table! They dont seem interested in it but if they do have a tiny nibble it wont hurt them! x

Yeah the tortoise table says that they are ok in moderation and i dont think torts are overly excited to eat them so they wont get demolished like some other plants would! Just make sure you weather it into non fertalised soil before putting it in the enclosure or find a garden centre that doesnt use fertaliser in their soil or water! x

Sorry to hijack this post but I was wondering the same thing and I am sure that somewhere I have read that cactus plants are a good plant to have on the tortoise table. Does anyone use them? Are there any ill effects that can be caused etc.

cactus are okay to have in there because they survive the heat and dryness and I've seen people have spikey cactus in the tables but I often wonder if they might get a spike in the eye. I have tried plants in the tables in the past but they are more of a nuisance really. they climb up them, knock them over, they dry up and die etc.
I found the ones that did best for me in terms of survival were succulent types like the money plant AKA jade plant. Crassula something it's proper name is I think. Also Aloe Aristata. they had to go in pots tall enough so the torts coudn't reach and wide enough so they couldn't be knocked over. they took up valuable space though so now I use plant pots for them to hide under instead |

Thanks Alan. I will have a look at the money plant (I like the sound of that one lol) and I think I will have a look into Cactus. Does anyone know the names of any cactus that they would recommend?

I've used draceana and various prayer plants in my reds enclosure as i've read that they're safe. I planted them in cork tubes so they were off the floor but the leaves were within easy reach of the torts but besides the odd bite mark they were untouched.
