As much I remember I've wanted a tortoise from very young age.But my mum always said that tortoises head is like a snake head and she's scared of snakes.Had to wait when moved out...I got my first tort when I was 17 so it's 20 years ago.Horsfield from petshop. His name was Ozzy.He was living with me 14 years but then I moved to abroad and had to rehome him.

Herbie is my first tortoise, bought last year in October!
I have always loved them, though. I remember my next door neighbour had one when I was a child, back in the 70's. I used to visit him all the time!

I have always loved them, too. I didn't realise how far my tort interest went back, until I stayed at my parent's house recently and saw so many tortoise ornament type things that I had bought for my mum when i was little!
I took the plunge in June 08 with my Horsfields Dandelion and Baxter

We do our two Hermans about 3 and half years ago. They aren't mine they are the wifes. An aunty of hers had one when she was little and she had always wanted one since then.
So I bought her two like I said 3 and half years ago. |

I always wanted a tortoise as a child but we had a dog, birds and guinea pigs.
I was always facinated by tortoises so got one 2/3 years ago. I so wanted a little girl and called this tortoise Persephone after the woman who Hades fell for and dragged into Hell to be with him. Persephone pined for fresh air and mother earth and her family so much Hades had to let her go. The ancient Eygptions thought that tortoise came from the underworld because they would surface from the earth in spring. Persephone seemed a perfect name for her. If she was a he I was going to call him Percy Phoney. She was a he but we called him Hero. Got another one who started off as Persephone and became Samson another hero of mine when it became all too obvious he was another boy |
