i really didn't mean a discussion thread , i really ment havin its own section that once done was locked, so people could go straight to what they wanted to know. Maybe i could include all the possible questions and answer's too.

I'm still a 'newbie' (hate that word) tortoise owner myself and everyday I am always asking minor questions either on chat or messaging because to be honest if I posted a new thread on every question I have... I'd be posting about 10 threads a day and clogging up the whole forum with threads by me.
When you post a question in a thread there are loads of others who would like to see the replies because they need to know too but may not be a registered member, only looking in. If you do it by PM then it doesn't help others really, well not at all in fact. If everyone did that then there would be no posts

Also, as far as I remember the chatbox is not for asking tortoise related questions yet that seems to be the place where everyone is asking their questions or discussing them

I think it is good if you need an answer straight away - some of the new members who are waiting for their posts to be authorized can get help instantly.

I personally think chat is a good thing - if people dont feel comfortable with what is being said then don't participate - there have been times when I have just read what is going on and not responded.

I do post threads asking questions.... however if I just want a straight yes or no answer then its just been more convenient and quicker to ask on chat or just message!!!!

If I havent got an answer from chat etc then I post a thread or sometimes I just go ahead a post a thread like I have done today!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't feel comfortable posting like 10 threads a day cos I'd feel like a bloody idiot, but no... since I should post a thread to help other people fine I shall do so.
