Hi Steve, welcome to the site.

As the others say, stop the pellets - they're really not good, far too high in protein despite what they say. Also, you mention fruit and veg - that's another no-no!

A Hermann should be fed on weeds and flowers like Sandy says. They're free, easy to find and best of all it's the most natural and nutricious food you can provide for your tortoise. Have a look at the weeds section on the main page and the sub forum here. It's in the process of being updated, but will give you more than a good start.

Limestone flour needs to be supplimented on any diet to ensure that your Hermann is getting a good source of calcium carbonate. As well as Limestone flour, a few times a week sprinkle some Nutrobal on the weeds you provide too to ensure you're giving enough Vitamins too.

Well, Freda is a stunner, and your daughter have a wonderful legacy coming to them. Where does she hibernate? Did you look at the examples of outdoor enlosures in the competition (there are some really nice ones there)?

Hi Steve thought I recognised your name from other site. You have a really beautiful tortoise, she has certainly been looked after well over the years
