Victoria crowned pigeon (Goura victoria) this is the largest pigeon species alive today a bout the size of a small turkey and probably one of the rarest bird species there is today

Wow Darren
They are really pretty birds, I love the colours. How many do you have at the zoo?

Hi Sandy
Just this one pair of Victoria's but we also have a single male blue crowned pigeon (goura cristata) unlike the victorias they are just the slate blue colour and much rarer and a little bigger. Crowned pigeons are very difficult to breed or should i say to go through the nesting and rearing successfully breeding attempts are quite frequent just not very successful this pair have been together 5yrs and only been successful once Darren
