It's an ebay sellers trick. There are people who, believe it or not, sell dirty underwear and socks to the odd people of this world who like that kind of thing. Ebay stopped people listing them as being sold dirty for health reasons. So now they are listed as used but will be washed if required. It's a way of getting round the rules. People who use ebay regularly will know this. He has no intention of dumping the torts outside, it's just so he can list and sell them without it getting removed.
This is what he put before edit. ebay removed my listing as im not allowed to give the tortoises away for free so I have relisted the vivarium on its own now ( for now I will leave them in the tank due to the cold weather when the tank is picked up I will let the tortoises in garden hopfully someone will find them and take care of them)

Regardless of whether it is a seller's ploy to get around the rules, he has removed the garden bit and also the photographs showing the seriously overgrown beaks and rather mis-shapen shells.
My point of posting was in the hope that there is someone possibly nearby who is able to contact the seller and may be prepared to take them on and give them the life they deserve. I imagine the vivarium cost quite a lot anyway. |

I doubt he wwould just let someone have them Claire. I would say this is an attempt to sell the torts without paperwork. £400 is a lot of money for a 2nd hand viv (not that I know the price of vivs, it may be a supa dupa one?!) If it was just a case of giving them a good home im sure there are many on here who would consider it.
I did message him, but no reply |

The listing has been ended now so let's hope someone has taken them on and can now give them a good home. Last edited by ClareandCo; 28-03-2013 at 02:45 PM. Reason: Add-on |

Apart from the overgrown beak and slightly long nails they didn't look in bad condition to me. I've seen worse and the viv looked like it had good lighting. The substrate was not good but lots of people make that mistake. We are only assuming he has no paperwork, the reason he has not listed the torts as up for sale is because ebay don't allow the sale of livestock.

This one you mean? He does look a bit domed doesn't he. The other one looks quite normal though. Maybe they were bought separately. He seem to have, what look like a UV light.

Its irresponsible to advertise them on ebay when they aren't allowed to, I think that shows what kind of owner they are. Ebay just breeds irresponsible impulse buys and I'm sure thats exactly why they don't allow the trade of livestock.
If anyone does hear back from him please PM me because the RSPCA are now interested.
