I suppose they must send out 100's of these letters, to have someone especially just to check them all would create one hell of a backlog and they just don't have the money. I also imagine that the odds of having a faulty one compared to the correct ones are very slim, you just happened to be the unlucky one. The camera's must take thousands in a day in somewhere like London, probably mostly of people in bus lanes etc, maybe its all done automatically rather than by a person. I know the company hubby used to work for always had those sort of letters as the drivers had to deliver in London and usually the only place to park to drop off items is where you shouldn't be, and they like many others always used to use the bus lanes when they shouldn't. I suppose the fines were small enough to make it worth the risk in a sizable company, anyway they rarely argued just paid the fine, I do think though that the driver had it taken out of his wages.
