Default I just can't win! :-/

I just cannot win with Darwin! Water bowl too cold at one end of his enclosure so not used, I move it, then it is too warm and the water evaporates after about 3 hours, move it again, Darwin has dug under it to sleep, bowl is on his back and still no water left as he's tipped it out!

Maybe he just doesn't want water?!?

(The water battle continues)

The water battle is often ongoing here too. Sometimes they use their water bowls to drink from and will toilet in it too, but usually it is turned into a muddy swamp despite the pebbles around it. Hugo loves to move all his furniture around - there's nothing he's not capable of moving to where he thinks it ought to be. They are such characters!

Leave it but maybe bathe every day. If he's in it (do this when he's cold) he will probably drink, wee, urates, poop (if the warmth gets to him).
I always found any water bowl Lily just walked through, and just made a right mess.
Some owners find their torts using it. I didn't. And I preferred bathing, or if they didn't drink in the bath - the occasional iceberg lettuce piece did the same thing. Or a bit of cucumber but overuse of that could produce runny poo - so I would use that as an occasional addition to a meal or juice rubbed on weeds they don't adapt to. xx

Iceberg lettuce - not a staple food by any means. But for hydration or giving some fluid - if bathing doesn't work - is a good alternative. It's only water in it that may benefit them. Other than that - there's no other benefit to the diet. xx

I do bath every day. And Darwin too!
I'd like the water to be available at all times, I don't mind how dirty it gets, but there if needed. I'll try a slightly different place tomorrow. One day I will get it right! Hopefully

Petey treats his water bowl as an opportunity to make mud pies. He stomps his top soil all into it and I dont mind as he seems happy enough. I wouldn't worry about it.
