Tortoise Table Help!
Hello,
I am looking to buy a tortoise table and was wondering where the best place is? I have a 7 year old male horse field and my vet has told me a minimum size of 6ft x 3ft is required. However one this size is very difficult to find. Any links to anywhere would be much appreciated. There is one on Ebay for around £300 but i was hoping to spend less than that. Thank you in advance. |

Lots of people use a wardrobe or a book case laid on it's back. You can get second hand ones quite easily or even cheaply from Argos etc.

make one, a piece of ply for the base and mdf or decking for the sides, the whole thing shouldn't be much more than £20 if you shop carefully and its easy to attatch sides to a base.

Welcome Elfenner, Depends how big you do want and the space you have. The vet was probably suggesting the ideal but boy Horsfields dont grow big even at 7 so it is practicalities, cost and ultimately adequate care and welfare of the Tortoise. I have used all sorts - old drawers, old tool wooden boxes, clipped lights etc or on wooden frames - all sorts I am sure everyone has tried over the years. A friend has found a company that do connecting plastic which is cheap but I can't find the name of it. For children's playpens I think. The plastic tray you get for your grow bags are good or two together -(plenty of substrate needed otherwise weakens muscles on plastic can arise) and just add cheap wooden sides. or even bricks if it suits. Lips on sides are recommended for Horsfields if you can and a cover over the corners - plenty of fun on those corner bits to be had !
