What is the best indoor adult red foot housing ? Am going to build a new house for them in the next few weeks and want it to be suitable for them for along time. It has to fit in my bed room what are my options ?

I have never kept them but the ones I've seen in zoos etc seem pretty big, anything up to 20inch, after having a look on the web the size of 8x4ft for one seems to crop up on most sites and that seems to be the minimum. I had a 6x4 ft table for my young sully and I doubt I could have fitted 2 in the bedroom, I'd imagine that most who keep adults would have to either give them the whole bedroom or make a shed/greenhouse into a permanent heated house, I could be wrong but don't they also require humidity, wouldn't that make the bedroom damp with condensation?.

Depends on the character of the tortoise and how 'stimulating' your enclosure is-lots of levels, hides etc. That said, I don't think you will find 20 inch reds, unless giant Bolivians, you may be mixed up with Yellow Foots.
I think really you're looking at around 30 ft square at least for most pairs of adult reds. My Reds-2 6-7 inch females, a 3-4 inch unknown sex and a 7 inch male- are getting upgraded to a floor base of 50ft sq, plus quite a bit of a second level-maybe 20ft sq.

'Red footed tortoises often reach a length of 10-14 inches, although they can be larger (16 inches or more). A slightly smaller "dwarf" variety is also being sold, commonly called the cherry-head that only attains a length of 10 - 12 inches as an adult. They can reach weights up to 30 pounds.'
This is what I was finding on the net but as i said I've never kept them however have seen some in zoos which are easily this size if not bigger, maybe they were'nt redfoots but did look like them. |

That would work well in terms of size, maybe you could put in on wheels so it can slide out?

don't forget you need enough height to take the light/heat and without any natural light you'd probably need more, and make sure there's enough air circulating.
