UVB strip fittings...
Hi, first post on here. I've got a 2 or 3 year old Horsefield called Pauline (although we now think she's actually a male, the name's stuck though ).
I've got an exo-terra repti-glo 5.0 for Pauline, and I have a starter unit for it, but it's pretty bulky, I'm an electrician myself but never deal with lighting. Would a standard fluorescent fitting that's the same dimensions and similar wattage work instead of the bulky starter work the same? It'd save a lot of cabled trailing out of the box aswell. Cheers. |

I can't find any 15" fittings anywhere. Been to B&Q, Screwfix and 3 electrical wholesalers near me, but no luck. Looks like I could do with a more standard sized 10% strip.

I'm just having a read up. I've found a reflector which could be used with an 18" 10% tube, which is 15W, which is ideal, but I have no idea whether it comes with a starter and other associated gubbins with it. Anybody have an idea? The link is here Acadia Reflector.
Thanks for the help, just trying to get Pauline up and running properly. |

Yes, you'd really want a 10.0 UVB for Pauline

Hi undershot, I can confirm that the reflector does not come with the starter, at Arcadia we have a complete range of products to help but you will need a 14-15 watt ballast, the lamp I recommend our D3plus which is 12%, and the 15watt reflector, reflectors are so important for maximizing the light output band focusing u.v onto the animal, you could also consider the new Arcadia high out put T5s which we make in the smaller size of 22 inches. Always happy to answer questions
