Don't know whereabouts you are, but if you have an Ikea near you it would be well worth buying their Kokosnot. It comes in a small lightweight packet and you add water to it - easy to carry on a bus! Check the store quantities first though before setting off.

I need to fill a 6x3 table, and it'd be far too expensive to use coco fibre - im based in Preston and no ikea near me either. Im hoping to eventually find a lift to homebase but its a fair wait yet.

B & Q do top soil - think they may deliver? You would need to check their web page.

One pack of Kokosnot swells to 15 litres when 3 litres of water is added and costs £2.25.

One 25 litre sack of topsoil is £3.99.

They work out more or less at the same price. We have found the Kokosnot much better than topsoil - much nicer texture, no glass or stones - often to be found in B&Q's as seen from the posts on here, retains moisture better so is not dry and dusty.

Plus of course it is so much lighter and easier to store, and does not need "drying" before use as topsoil is often very wet when the sack is first opened.
