The only thing I had to buy was the habistat, and that certainly didnt cost that much.
I like to recycle where and when I can. All the other things I had or friends had spares. As for the water/plastic bottles well you can use them instead of the large stones<g>.

I used my water bottles instead of bricks, but Ive found that with a good thermostat after a couple of days they wernt needed sandy- I had set up a mock incubator with hemp in the trays to get a good idea of weight- I wouldnt use this for incubation substrate as i could imagine it going mouldy
I now just have a large heat mat (free) a tub with a sponge in that is dampened (free) wire mesh as a cake tray (free) one large tub of vermiculite (tub was free, vermiticulite was a pound!) the only things i bought where the habistat and the thermometer. Quite a good deal. But again, like sue says, you could get a better one for a little more of the cost- i just couldnt justify it with only needing enough space for small amounts of eggs |
