question about my torts shell
hi this might seem like a strange question but when the shell is growing what does it look like?
the reason i ask is cos i picked nemo up today and his shell looks abit funny at the edges its like he has extra bits growing and they are rather see through and i just wanted to know weather its cos hes growing or if there is summat wrong with him? he is 2 yrs old and ive only had him afew weeks. also do you know where i can get him insured?

Could you post a picture, one of my old timers has worn scutes above the rear legs and its kinda see through but the growth is not inconsistant with the rest of his growth, i put it down the the fact his legs have been constantly rubbing the underside of the carapace..

The shell is keratin, just like our finger nails and sometimes you can see through slighly
at the edges. A picture would certainly help<g>.
