Pond pump advice

Im making my own filter using a large plastic tub but I'm unsure what pond pump to use/buy
The pond is around 750 litres max.

So far it has been done relatively cheaply by making my own filter and with a free pond liner so I'm hoping to find a good cheap pump.

Is this possible?

Indoor or outdoor pond? Outdoor pond pumps have to cope with a lot of pond rubbish.

It's a turtle pond for hatchling Emys orbicularis that will be in a greenhouse.

It will be attached to a homemade filter

I use Eheim pumps. Basically because they work. One small problem is that they are designed for fish use so the water intake is small and can get clogged with turtles. You can fix this with a pre filter. I just use a tuppaware box with holes drilled and some filter foam. The pump is sealed in this tub and it stops big lumps of detritus from clogging the pump. The prefilter also acts biologically so as the larger matter breaks down its pushed throgh to the main filter.

I did see some hozelock dry pond pumps recently. These sit outside of the pond and have an in and an out hose which would work with an external filter.

Not cheap but very good. You'd have to order eheim 12-16mm hose to run. To your filter.

I'm not 100% what water turnover you'd want. Some ponds only turn over the water volume once an hour, If you want the water in a 750 litre pond turned over twice an hour you'd need at least a 1500 LPH pump.

Your best bet might be to go to a tropical fish or Koi place, see what they think.
