What I meant was much the same as what I was saying earlier about the peas. Do they check that there is 6.0g per 100g of protein in every batch of peas, do they do it once a week, once a year or what? I'm sure that things will affect what it is, like more rainfall, less rainfall, hours of sunshine, condition of soil ...

My guess is that it won't be 6.0 every bag and that the rabbit food won't be 15% every bag either. That being the case then you could be giving too much or too little and you wouldn't really know it

I'm willing to bet they did it once to fulfill the requirement of the FDA.

I've got some catching up to do here, will have a good read through tomorrow.

Ed the book is; The Last Tortoise by Craig B. Stanford, Belknap Harvard 2010

It only has a small section covering the diet and the Desert tortoise.
