whistling tort
Hi all,
My little tortoise is making a nasal whistle when she breathes. I've had her checked over by a tortoise vet and he said she was in good health. She has been outside since summer started and seems ok, eating the plants and active. Also, annoyed with me as she has been inside for a few days due to the heavy rain. Wasn't sure if anyone else has heard of this? Many thanks, Gemma

Sometimes tortoises do get the odd nasel whistle. It could be something stuck in the nares or just very dry. As long as there is no discharge, and been checked by a vet, all should be well. Just keep a close eye on the tortoise. Why do you keep your tortoise out of the rain, as mine love provided temps are ok:0)

Hi Sandy,
It has been a bit dry recently, so most likely that! I have been watering her enclosure, but it made no difference the past few weeks. Only kept her our of the rain for my peace of mind to be honest. There was very heavy rain the other day and wasn't sure how the ground was going to take the rain, didn't want her swimming in it. She is back outside now and loving it.
