Default Hot Summer

Wow how hot has this summer been. The tar has melted out of the sleepers and the grape vine has taken off big style! What's been different with all of you...! .

And I am allergic to grapes !

Can you spot the buried one ! ?

A little boarder came to stay for a few days and slept the entire time only up for flowers !

Rogue plant in the garden ....does any one have a ID - will post on other thread if no joy.

Woody, despite unwell sniffy has done well with Ele outside

Banjo D disappeared amongst the pots for a few days to keep in the shade and peered out yesterday

No sign of the girls for days! or they would come out on own (had photos of area with no tortoises but it looked forlorn!) and then all came out at once to eat. I have been throwing away their food as simply shrivelled.

Hari & Meg are now in with Eva! eating lots

First year my tomatoes haven't up stalks and withered.

Beau has been making the most of the shade too and out on the lawn when cooler

Wow what a lovely lot of piccies, you are spoiling us, Harry and Meg are gorgeous, Beau is looking so pretty, she has lovely big beautiful eyes.

Mine are having the perfect Med summer, behaving naturally, up early eating, seeking shade and sleeping the rest of the day until late afternoon, then eating again. And off to bed early evening.

Lovely pictures as usual Clare. My grape vines have done well this year but the tortoise egg fertility has been very low.

My two are behaving like Suze torts.

My grapes are amazing. They are for making wine, so basically grown for the birds, as we had no idea when we bought the vine.

Vegetables disastrous as we went away for a week early July. So had small potatoes, few runner beans, some curly kale and lots of butternut squash. Might get some carrots yet. Fantastic cucumbers. Lovely tomatoes from one plant I bought at the HTS open day.

Most flowers disastrous other than dahlias.

Can't wait for more rain!

Loved all your photos. Thank you for making the effort.

Brilliant photos, Clare! It’s so lovely to see Woodward having some time outdoors too.
Love them all!

Great photos, gotta' love the summer.
I have to say, your grass and plants are looking much healthier than mine!

This morning felt like autumn had come over night, not very much activity in the tortoise garden, I reckon they going to start winding down soon.

There’s definitely a smell of autumn in the air. They’ve had a great summer though.
I reckon we’ll have a last burst of sunshine and then a glorious autumn.

I agree, I think we will have a lovely warm, sunny late summer, and a glorious autumn. It’s still feels lovely here, just more comfortable. And just for once, I’m really looking forward to autumn and winter, having had a fabulous summer, I welcome the change.

As you probably remember, Autumn is my favourite season, so I’m ready to welcome it too. The harvest period is upon us with all the tractors rumbling past and it feels we’re going into a steady, gentle transition.
I have to say, I determined to embrace all the seasons this year, and I have, even the winter. We have been very lucky to have had the right weather for the right season for once.
The warmth of the sun in autumn is so comfortable isn’t it, especially if you’ve got cosy socks and a jumper or fleece on. Nice and toasty.
