I use timothy hay for my pancakes, i put it in my super chopper lol and sprinkle it over their food. Im sure this owudl be the same hay you can use for leopards, you can get it from pets at home.

Hi Lisa

You will be hard pushed to find anything in the UK other than "meadow hay" unless you order it from specialised sites on the net.

half my torts enclosur is meadow hay which is very cheap, easy to clean, probably insulating and they nibble it now and then.
They like to make there own bed in thick hay.

Only problem i have encounted is that it can be sharp and could stick in there eyes or neck of young torts and irritate them.

Hi
What's the difference between Timothy hay and meadow hay as far as torts are concerned? Would it be good to add these to the diet of a horsfield and an ibera (I know it's not as essential for these species, but would it be good for the extra fibre, etc)?

I Have found a website in the uk selling Western Timothy Hay, they also sell Orchard Grass, Oxbow Bunny Brome Hay & Oxbow Oat Hay. All 4 types of hay are £4-25 for a 425gm bag. In Timothy and Orchard they also sell 1-1kg=£8-75 + 4.05kg=£26-15 + 11.36kg=£44-00 + 22.7kg=£55-00.

Few questions please

Can a leopard eat just Timothy Hay or can it eat one of the other varieties as well?

How well does the stuff keep? ie if I purchased the biggest bag would it stay fresh enough for the leopard to work her way through during the next few months

How much hay should she be given each day if she is the size of an A4 sheet of paper?

i think a leopard can eat most hays, mine eats meadow hay.
It stays fresh for months i think, they wont overfeed on hay i dont think, mine live on hay and only nibble it now and then.

I think hay is just for the african species.

Just be careful with any hay you put with Leopards, as if the hay gets any mould spores in it,
they can kill your tortoises. So please keep the hay dry.
