Default Cold weather behaviour in Kinixys Erosa

So the other day, it was under 13 with rain, and my erosas were still eating and trying to mate. Two weeks back or so, they were still active at 10! Even with Mediterranean tortoises, these kind of temps would be near the bottom of their active range. Anyone else observed this cold weather tolerance in them?

Could torts get used to an environment (temp / humidity etc) like a person would?

To a certain extent yes, but not massively. The temps in their native range do drop to 10 though quite often. Does anybody else on here-aside from Danny- keep Erosas or has kept them?

Once they have warmed up, they can cope with lower temps than most keepers think. My adult males will still come out to grab around 10am in the mornings, even without extra heat. When it's the weather we have been having, they are out at 7am, with no extra heat to warm them up.
My tortoises have got used to lower temps than most tortoises that are well and truly pampered,
