The thing is if we all worried about 'what if's' very few of these lovely animals would ever have a home however long or short, but the same applies to big dogs, horses even parrots etc. So if you can offer one a home then do so, by not buying rehoming etc you'll not stop the breeding/selling and the tort will have a nice home even if the worst happens and its not for life, no one can guaranty that.
