Hi Linda,
I don't know about redfoots but Darren is a mind of information and he will certainly put you on the right tracks when you get your little ones. Becks has also got some great reds which will be siblings to yours so she will be another good person to ask. Ade

I dont think there is a guide to how much weight gain redfoots should put on. But like most speices
I would think 2-3grms a month is a good guide. This will encourage slow smooth growth. Only sulcata and much larger speices will put on more each month. The only tortoises to have a true guide are hermans, ibera, graeca graeca. They have the jackson ratio.

Sorry linda
Missed this post ,as Sandy says a good guide is a general weight gain of a few grams a month ,reds are largeish tortoises and weight gain in the region of 3-4 grams monthly would be sufficent but saying this anything lower will be excepted as long as some gain is achieved they are growing as no two hatchling grow the same . Another way of contoling growth is reds mature sexually by size rather than age but again size can be forced by over feeding a good method is to gain 1inch a year, so hatchling's hatch at one inch by 10yrs old and almost sexually mature you should have an 11-12 inch animal Darren |
