egg laying in indoor enclosures
if torts are kept mainly indoors are they likely to mate and lay eggs in an indoor enclosure? would the substrate on a tort table be deep enough? linda |

I've heard of it done many a time. Ypu can have a deeper table to allow for more substrate.

Hi Linda
My redfoots always lay indoors , there laying season is from late september till late march so it would be to cold out side to lay anyway. My horsfields also lay indoors even though they are allowed outside through the summer months she still tends to lay early or late in the year. Also my elongated lays late in the year around december time . Darren |

Hi Linda
The adult redfoots will dig down up 10 inches to excuvate a nest hollow and the elongated probably the same , the horsfields about 5-7 inches , so yes if breeding nesting is required indoors you must provide the right depth of substrate texture and humidity to encourage successful laying attempts . Linda again no prblem talk soon Darren |
