Trusty, I've kept quiet on this thread because I didn't want to get involved with any slagging off but now that's finished.......................
Every thing your doing sounds great. If your tortoise has a good appetite and is active you can experiment with the humidity levels in the coming years and monitoring the shell growth visually. I will say some exposure to humidity through out the day is needed but this business of 80+% 24/7 is nonsense. Consider buying a ultrasonic humidifier for the partially covered area of the table. Only 20euro and brilliant. I use them for my hingebacks which love humidity and our hatchling leopard. Here's the one I use and apologies for your thread being ruined. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Home-Office-P...item1c2a76459b

AH didn;t consider the thread being ruined,,, has been quite humorous to be honest but thanks anyway!!!
I have my hot end and cool end and the cool end is covered - so half the house has the lid on.... that end is a humidity of usually 75-80% as I spray it about 4 times a day and have a humidity probe in there,,, BUT "Bubbles: does not often go that end and chooses to stay the hotter end normally!!! I will check out that humidifier though,, she is very slightly pyramiding but have been told she is young enough for it to smooth out BUT I have no idea how she was kept before I had her... I also soak her once a day in warm water for approx 20 mins,,, but SHE also chooses to stand IN her drinking water when she goes for a drink,, She did go in the humid end the other day and drag her moss everywhere though!!! |

I do read as maiy tortoise forums this one , TTT and a few other I agree you can't just have one opinion or view tortoise keeping is always changing, views sway, they evolve so rather than being right or wrong Ed I didn't mean to upset you by saying high humidity causes RNS but its what IV been told and read , but now you told me it doesn't IV learnt and I'm accepting your view so try to not be so judgementel please we all get told things as we go along to learn , we are always learning even the most respected tortoise expert I'm sure is still learning as long as we are all willing to learn n evolve don't be so harsh
