I was thinking this too, there has been a lot of thefts recently too, you never know with ads like that on gum tree (or anywhere probably)

I thought you still had to get it from DEFRA if selling? Not an A10 but some form of paperwork

..and is there not a condition that you can't breed from it to sell? not sure but I thought that was mentioned at one time on here. I think it applies to pre 1984 or something

I thought if they were pre the cites convention then they're sorta exempt. I think most of these stolen tortoises are being sold by other means rather than Internet ads with photos. But yeah it's something to consider..

I'm not sure about the exempt thing how it works but I remember a post by Kirkie once explaining how it works or what happens. I kind of think any hatchlings can't be sold or can't get A10's or something like that

I think that if they are too old to have an A10 then they can't be sold, only given away but I am not 100% sure and can't be arsed trawling through that DEFRA stuff

I've been told you can't breed from her or sell her but she can be given as a gift but technically no money can change hands

aye something like that. I think you may can breed but not sell the young ones. not sure you could stop them breeding if there was a few in together
