Default New Toads

Heya - I promised I'd post a picture of my new toads Cabbage and Piccalilly - they're Bombina orientalis, fire-bellied toads, I've had them two weeks now and they've really settled in, they come over when food is put in and have a good appetite. They make an odd squaking noise at night and early in the morning which is quite amusing.

Jp.

Awww isn't it sweet. I think the names leave a lot to be desired though

Thanks Christian,

I'm hoping to get a larger tank set up for them and get a few more - as far as I can tell they are both males, but I'm not sure as I've only ever heard one squeaking at a time,

I only have the one with me at the minute, stupidly deleted my pictures so they only exist on the computer at Chester and it wont let me send the pics to myself... - I'm home for the night and my toads live up in Chester. Will get some more up a.s.a.p,

Hi Christian - one looks darker throated than the other I think, one is a bit bigger too. I cant get a good look to see if they have nuptial pads, but I think its only one singing - not too sure.

Heres the new pics...

cheers, from the look of the bottom picture i wud say u have a male on the right and a female on the left. altho one is facing forward so the darker skin might be the shadow on it. dark throat and duptail pads are a sign of males but generally these are only visable during breeding season. what sort of sutuo have u got for these and what substrate apart from moss are u using.

cheers
