yea i agree with stells.....a normal light or a reb bulb does the trick, if ur having a large viv like that then i wud not buy a baby as they tend to stress out and go off eatting. some people use the dish with calcium and some don't, i only use it for gravid females and i find they need it more, but sometimes when they have it on there food and in a fish it can become too much but u will learn this from keeping them and like stells says it works for her.
i have about a 5 page car guide written up on them by me if u want me to pm u that. |

Hi we have a leopard gecko, we house it in a fish type tank, these need more ground space than height as they dont climb, so the wooden viv you posted maybe wasted and costly.
Like has been said above I just have small dish (very shallow so it doesnt drown) and a dish of calcium, a heat mat and a hide in the hot and cold end, and some plastic greenery as they are quite shy. I'll take some photos of our set up and post them. Vivienne

ahh thanks everyone.
i went today and got 2 that someone didnt want anymore, with a pretty big viv, way taller than needed like someone above said but only £60 with gecko's, lights an stuff http://img147.imageshack.us/my.php?i...sc06888pv0.jpg which of these lights do i actually need and at what times? (there is a normaly light dingling there.) i think they have both been raised under both. also im going to buy little rock caves and bowls that iv seen in shops and give it a good clean. is sand alright for the flooring? say hello to Fred http://img148.imageshack.us/my.php?i...sc06887fb2.jpg and Wilma http://img514.imageshack.us/my.php?i...sc06889ol6.jpg |

ur pics aren't showing up.
u don't need any lights for leos.....red lights can be used to raise the temperture but thats all they need. do not u use.....plain kitchen towel, sand causes impactions(blockages) and can kill them. normal light is not needed and not reckonmended as they are nocturnal and such bright light will distrube them. if u are going to use a red light them u can have it on all the time unless or tank is hot enough and then just turn it off at night so the viv is slighly cooler by a few degrees, but this is not a nessesity. |

still can't see the pics but anyway....yea wot stells say is right.....i personally don't use normal bulbs as it disturbs them and this causes them not to breed as readily but as u have not reason to breed then it's fine, but normal bulbs are used alot anymore so it won't hurt them in anyway.
