Thanks for that are monkeys etc included, if so and you get rid of them ( for whatever reason) do you then have to inform that you have, where could you find a list of those animals and I,m assuming that list is constantly growing or are a lot of exotics kept ilegally.

ann the article 10's work the same as tortoises and so on
and dwal animals there is a list on defra website but unfourtuanlly only covers potentially dangerous animals which is why you get the home checks but this list doesnt cover any non dangerous animals so many species of small primates are not on it

I also have no objection to anything being kept if like I said you can afford to give it the best care and enviroment possible, but I don,t think that exotics are kept as pets in the same way as a dog or cat but more because the owner is interested in the type or species, i.e torts I get great pleasure and enjoyment in keeping both my torts and turtles but wouldn,t class them as the same as a dog or cat, I,m interested in everything about them and am always trying to learn more which includes their enviroment, food etc, if I was ever going to keep monkeys or similar then I wouldn,t see then as a cuddly pet but more as another interesting creature to keep, thus I don,t think they are house pets they obviously need interaction etc but not the fussing and petting of a cat or dog, if this makes sense, anyone considering keeping other than the norm is a different type of person than your general pet owner and would have done their research before getting the animal/bird, I can,t think that many are bought on a spur of the moment simply because of the specialist requirements, cost and difficulty in sourcing the animal.

i have to say before i got my tortoises i didnt research it fully, but i have done so since, and from that any animal i have or would purchase since i have done or will be doing extensive research before hand.
last night i built a big shed for my tortoises to go into, im gonna be cutting a hole in the base as a door for them to come out into their outdoor enclosure, and once the torts enclosure is all sorted, im gonna be working on a big pond for my turtles, i try and look after all my animals the best way i possibly can, and if i ever did decide to get a monkey that would be looked after properly too. i would spend my last penny on my animals if it was nessacary. dont really like being told i shouldnt have animals, considering all mine are well looked after, eat the proper diet and are kept the way they should be. |

i'm mot grovelling or anything but ive read lots of your posts over the last few months and i dont think anyone on here would ever think you didnt look after your pets. it stands out a mile how much you love and care for them. so dont get upset or put off with what anybody says negative just let it go over your head, you are far to valuable to lose from the forum. right xxxx licking over with now.
