It’s so silly, you have to blame the government 1st and foremost as they are the ones promoting fear through bans.

ill be the 1st to say i once to was so scarred by all bull breeds ..
due to media ect ect ..
until i became pregnant with my 1st child my friend had 2 staff at the time .mother and son. i went round there a fair bit (scared may i add)
the mother was a pure white female staff who followed me everywhere i went she would sit by me lay across my tummy almost as if she knew and was protecting me .if her son jumped up me she would push him out the way ..
then of cause baby was born . i took my son round to see my friend .he was in his car seat and i place him on the table best place i thought with the dog being about.. taz her name was the female staff sat at the foot of the table as if she was protecting my son from anythink that could harm him when her son jumped up to take a look she soon put him in his place .. from that day on i wasnt scared of bull breeds anymore its just the way they are made at the end of the day .. its man thats at fault with bull breeds not the breed itself .. now i myself have 2 bull breeds and i wouldnt change for the world

As I understand it those of you that are extremely upset by the negative coverage by the BBC own STAFFORDSHIRE Bull Terriers not AMERICAN PIT Bull Terriers. ( i am sure that if you have APBTs you won't admit to it on this Forum!).

As I understand it each breed is quite different. They may both be BULL terrier types but have been bred for entirely different reasons.

The APBT was bred to kill feral pigs in the American Mid West and is an inveterate fighter weighing up to 120Ibs - quite remarkably it's blood coagulates quicker that a Staffie which suggests that this "self healing" ability allows the dogs to continue fighting after being injured.

The staffie is different, loyal and agile and generally weighing up to 50lbs but in the wrong hands (as with most breeds) without exercise and discipline can prove unsuitable as a family pet.

For those of you upset by last nights programme, please remember that an American Pit Bull Terrier is dangerous and is responsible for a significant number of attacks.

Staffie owners will get negative views for owning this breed, which is understandable as both breeds share similar physical characteristics. Even DNA tests cannot solve this dilemma.

I hope that this may prove to provide some balance to the argument.

Thank you for that, I do not own either breed, but have read a lot about them and as you say they are an entirely different kettle of fish.

i was just stateing most bull breeds are tard with the same brush ......
i feel that its not the breed its the ppl breeding and rearing these pit bulls that are to blame and behind all the evil around this breed ..
after all any dog is what you make it

I agree that most bull type breeds are tarred with the same brush, but again to be cautionary, the idea that any "dog is what you make of it" doesn't appear to apply to American Pit Bull Terriers.

It is generally accepted that all domestic dogs are related as coyotes, wild dogs and wolves etc have interbred over the centuries.

Anyone who believes that an American Pit Bull Terrier can become a loyal family dog is mistaken - it is like keeping a domestic moggy and suggesting that with the right care tigers would make great pets.

Stick to Staffies
