help with my dog!!
my dog is 10 yrs old.... ive had him for 8 yrs........he was dumped at my primary school
hes allergic to fleas and has sensetive skin..he doesnt have fleas, his skin is very hot the last couple of days and has skratched him self to the point he has bald patches.. he doesnt have mange either.......any ideas on how . the vet wont be open till tuesday so any advise till then? the vet gives us special shampoo and an injection, and tells us to keep his hair short |

he is a midium sized dog........looks like a yorkie except bigger, hes a mongrel,
my parents are going to the chemist to get an anti histimene untill tuesday when the vet opens, im a little worried cause were going away wednesday morning and wont be back till like fridAY NIGHT, my aunt will be looking after him though, can you only get that medication from the vet..... if so ill ask him about it... fergus is worse today...he has cut him self from scratching!!! ive given him rescue remedy...and loads of cream..... which sooths and has a local anastetic thank you sooooooooooo much stells! |

hes fead on pedigree chum with dog biscuits......i heard that feeding less meat is good?

I agree with Stells It is more likely the diet is the cause.Pedigree chum has less nutritional value than a macDonalds!
I feed my dogs on Burns dry complete food it is additive free and also not tested on animals.It is harder to find but most pet stores will order it in.James Wellbeloved is also a complete biscuit.If you prefer to feed meat I would recommend naturediet or even a raw diet Sharon |

Remember if you go for the meat diet you should still use a mixer biscuit to keep the teeth clean and healthy and to bind the tummy together - if you know what I mean ! Berties do a wheat gluten free mixer, I would also recommend a vit supplement with the raw diet something like SA37. Any dietary change should be done slowly, over about a week - 10 days, the effects should start to show in two weeks and a real difference should be noted in six weeks. It may also be worth using a specialist supplement like Starflower oil, this is more effective for skin complaints than cod liver oil or evening primrose oil.

thanks. ive given him a tablet a couple of hours ago and there is an improvement
i think i will change the diet aswell, ive heard that chicken&rice is good aswell |
