Very cool post. They are extremely inquisitive. When they feel secure they do just that. I found one at my back door... it bolted when I opened the door but when it hit the high grass it did that same thing where it raised it's head high to see if I was giving chase.

The one you have photoed is a big old animal. That is mostly When they develop the white chin.

Really good photos.

You really should post those photos here... http://www.fieldherpforum.com/forum/ They would really get a kick out of it because of the situation and the quality of the photos.

i really like snakes, my last 2 exes had them and i luv seeing/holding them at shows and stuff but i think i wud pee my pants if i came across a wild one especially peeping out of my tree like that!
