Evie has a broken leg. Update.
My sons guinea pig has just fallen off Kians lap and her leg is sticking out at an odd angle. We have a vet appointment at 2.45. Kian is very upset.

I am feeling a bit angry at the moment. Kian was holding them while I cleaned out the cage but he wasn't paying attention so she jumped off. Can't help being angry with him. He keeps saying it's all my fault and I can't disagree with him. I haven't said anything but I'm biting my tongue.

Feeling really stressed. Hate to think of an animal suffering, have a knot in my stomach the size of a football. I'm shaking and just want to cry.

It happened to me years ago, my pig jumped out of my hands just like a bar of soap and broke his front teeth on the floor .

She has broken it. The vet said there were 2 courses of action. We could have her PTS or confine her to a small cage for 3 weeks and let it heal. The bone has overlapped so she will have a shorter leg. We went with option 2. She is now in a bird cage and I have wrapped plaster round her leg as the vet didn't do anything to immobilise it. She said there is nothing that will stay on. But I thought it would be better to at least try and keep it still to give it some stability while it mends.

Evie seems very calm, sitting eating her hay and carrot. I've given her some cuttle bone and she has had a chomp on that. I figured extra calcium couldn't hurt.
