Is Tim a fatty?
Hi I took 5 and a half year old Tim my 5 and a half year old hermanns for a check up at the Birmingham nature centre yesterday and they said he was very health and doing well. Which I as obviously pleased about.
He was overwintered as I only had him last summer. His weight is 364g and his length is 11.4cm He has gained 25grams since autumn 2012 and only grown in length 1mm According to the Jackson ratio he is overweight. should I be feeding less or is this normal as he was overwintered??

hi there,i would only use these graphs as a rough indicator,in my experience most torts seem to be under weight, unless your tort is unable to pull his head and legs into his shell i wouldn't worry about it.
don't forget that as the weather improves and tim gets some outside time he will exercise some weight off. regards dave |

Are you measuring the carapace or the plastron?
