I keep hermanns, horsfield, ibera and marginated, I find them all pretty similar. Hermanns are nice, I do love mine, they have good personalities and little aggression compared to the Horsfields, many are put off Marginated due to their size, as they grow quite large but they are my favourites.

I love my Horsefileds because they are always climing and digging around but I'd say either Hermans or Horsefields really!!!
I'm glad I started out with Horsefields as I find that growing my tort family is easy enough as they don't need certificates etc, they are addictive as already pointed out. I would def just start with one tho as if you get 2 x young ones, there is no guarentee you will have 2 females and if one or both are male, you could have problems in a few years. Let us know what you decide!!! x

Hiya, I'd say horsfields, I'm biased I have 2 babies they're a year old in April, I didn't have any problems keeping them awake through the cold weather. However I have been warned, and seen signs of a little aggression around food but if you keep an eye on them while they're eating and keep them separate they're fine, mine love each other other than at feeding time! They have such wonderful little characters too, but I'm sure whatever you choose, your in the right place for good information good luck! x

I would say hermanns or horsfield. I have two horsfields of different ages and have had some problems with dominance, so I would say, if you want two horsfields get them at the same time. Otherwise, stick with one lol. Horsfields have great personalities and are very easy to look after. Joanne xx

I've had my horsefield for 5 months and she's great. Full of personallity and it great to watch climbing all over the place.
Just make sure the sides of your table are high, it amazing how good they are at escaping I'd love another, but dont have space for 2 table if they dont get on. |

Hermanns are much the more sensible!! lol
I have had a male ibera for 40yrs....no problems... I have had younger ibera and gracae gracae rehomers and they arent as tough. Every sinle hermann rehomer I have...18 in total...are very tough and much more sensible. They always get out of the wet, they always dig down in the colder days and find dry shelter, they eat for england and when they hatch out they come out running.
