How old should a horsfield be to hibernate ,and what is a suitable weight please xx

Hibernating species such as Horsfield can hibernate form hatchlings, they do in the wild. It is really up to you, if you feel you have all the information you need, to know how to wind down correctly, have a suitable place to hibernate your tortoise, and know how to bring them out of hibernation. Weight , their length to weight ratio needs to be correct according to which ever chart you use. But essentially your tortoise needs to be 90% of their predicted body mass, to be fit enough to hibernate, to allow for a small amount of wieight loss during wind down and hibernation.
So if your tortoise is in good health and has not had any recent illness and his weight is good, then he can hibernate at any age. But do your research well and be confident that you know what you are doing. There's no rush, he won't come to any harm if he is not hibernated.
