In fact if you want it said straight then I think that hatchling just needed longer in the egg

I know it's still early days, and until she is completely off the yoke sac, and running about, I know I could still come down to a dead baby tort in the morning, but it's a better option than no chance and dying in the egg, she was clearly so relieved when I cleared the sticky away from her head and legs, she was trapped and couldn't get through it. It was like rubber, and sticky and very tough. But so far so good, she is doing well.

Oh please I don't want this to turn unpleasant, this is why I was reluctant to talk about it, I'm sure lots of people would disagree with me, and would let nature take its course, it's just not my way. Each to their own.

Let's leave it there, the good thing is, she's doing well, and that's something to be happy about.

Maybe maybe not I have hatched out hundreds of eggs and a lot of the ones I find dead in she'll are covered in the horrible sticky stuff when I have intervened and got it off most have lived so I think it was a good move that suze made at the end of the day it now has a chance if it dies then so be it it was obviously not meant to be.

Oh for goodness sake, if you're allowed an opinion and to voice it so is everyone else.
As with everything thing in life, we must weigh up the situation and make the best decision based on the facts in front of us. That's what Suze did. As I'm sure is what you've done when choosing to open an egg or to leave it.

I'm not experienced in incubating and hatching, having only done it with one special egg, but for what it's worth this sounds to have been the right decision. I truly hope your little hatchling thrives, Suze. I'm sure it was a hard call to make. At the end of the day you have to make the decision you are happy to live with and I think helping the hatchling along was what you had to do - you'd have always beaten yourself up about it if you hadn't. Please let us know how she gets on. Good luck. X
