Turtle question
hi
Was wondering if anyone owns a yellow bellied slider? Been offered one of 4 years of age with tank etc for free

i dont have any sliders, just painted turts, but bear un mind that sliders need BIG tanks when they get a bit of size on, aswell as good external filtration and access to a pond outside in summer months etc etc
Personnaly i LOVE em, and 1 day you never know |

This is what i was wondering
i defo dont have space for an outdoor pond at the moment so think its a no go! whats a painted turtle? can u advise me of any smaller turtles that dont require a large tank and outdoor pond?

This is 1 of my eastern painted turtles, they are great lil charachters, i have 4 babies at the mo in a 4ft tank and am planning there outdoor pond as we speak - as they grow there tank will need to change
The smaller species of turtles better suited to tanks etc are the Musk turtles and Mud turtles, not as an avid swimmer as other turtles so they dont need as much water in especially when young, and they dont bask as much as some, you are more likely to fing them trapsing along the bottom of the tank, hence them being called ' bottom walkers' There is a loadof good info on the Terrapin Tank forum cheers |

if you want a small species that dosent get big musk turtles would be your best bet!
