Sheldon now 4" - Boy or Girl?
Sheldon is now 4" long so I have taken some more photos to see what is thought about his sex -
The vet did tell me last time I was there that Sheldon has a deformed tail so it points up slightly. I dont know if that has any relevence to determining his sex Thank you

Thanks Danny,
So does the 'deformity' in the tail mean anything? Just worried that its actually a long tail thats just a bit twisted

Her tail isn't that bent so nothing to worry about there. Also with Spur thighs they don't get a tail like a Hermanns with the male having a long tail after his cloaca. For Spur thighs male do get a longer tail but the cloaca is at the end of the tail so for either sex there isn't much tail after the cloaca.

Oh yeah Oliver looks very simular to Sheldon tail wise. He's not a spur thigh though is he? I don't think I will go for a name change lol. I have a 16 year old male cat called Phoebe so nothing wrong with a girl tortoise called Sheldon lol

No, Oliver is a hermanns. I think Sheldon is a name suitable for a female tort.

I call her Shelly a lot anyway so I guess its not too bad
It's going to be hard starting to say 'she' instead of 'he' though. Now I just need to wait a few months for Heidi to get to 4" for it to be easier to sex her (knowing my luck she will definitely turn out to be a him )
