Question Outdoor House Substrate?

Hi folks,
I've got a rabbit hutch type house for my outdoor enclosure and I was wondering what substrate to use in it. Do I just put the same topsoil/sand mix in there or something else?
My gut feeling tells me to use the topsoil/sand mix but I just want to be sure. Got to have everything correct for my little Ebbie!
Thanks a million

for there hide, i use straw or hay, as they can burrow down in it if it gets too cold,

Thanks Ziggy.
I hadn't even considered straw or hay because I just assumed it might scratch their little eyes. Just goes to show we should never just assume!
