I can't even imagine what we put our creatures thru in past times. I was doing some research and found that scientists in the late 1800's in this country used nails to pin dogs to wooden surfaces by their paws and experiment to see if they felt pain! I don't even want to think about what else they did.

There more videos how he removing that nasty harness. Upsetting video. He is one amasing guy, I wonder how he could save this tortoise from his previous owner. I am sure the old owner drilled the holes because he was told it is fine for them to have holes/ handles on the back.

One of my previous torts had a hole drilled in her shell and was tied to a hammer.
I found her wandering the streets many times. Eventually the owners said i could keep her. They were sick of her getting out. She had her address painted with thick white paint on her shell too as she kept escaping. When i had her she didnt escape once in 23 years.....amazing what a proper fence can do however she was eventually stolen |

Oh my. What a horrendous story. I'm so sorry she got nicked. Lets hope whoever took her really wanted to care for her and not make a profit. Poor wee soul x

I agree the original owner must have been a real **** in need of a wake up call......lets see
1. turn up at the house 2. nail ears to kneecaps 3. kick him/her up the arse.....a lot all joking aside it amazes me that people still have not idea on how to keep a tort even when they plan on keeping one, even if you dont have the internet....go to a library, get a book, i was one facebook the other day and i came across a group called i own a tortoise.....some of the pictures was just mind blowing, there was a dude with a herman a horsefield and a leopard kept all together and feeding them cucumber.....i was like WTF, there was also a woman who was in florida who had a sulcata and she refered to it as a "three toe spur"??? it was 11 years old and she didn't know if it was a male or female.
