Thanks guys
Kay I'm fascinated by small animals well any actually , and have kept most domestic forms including Donkeys and a cow .
But space prohibits large animals so small exotics are a firm favourite these days .
I bought them (extremely expensive ) from an Internet add I googled (armadillos for sale) .

After finding out how difficult they where to breed and how few thier are in Europe and actually not many anywhere in a captive environment I decided to buy them and try and build up if I could a small captive population with the help of the few other keepers and zoos in Europe that own them so thats it really

They are fascinating creatures. Never thought of them as pets. They seem lighter in color then the ones I have watched crossing the roads or is that just my imagination?

You probably saw 9 banded armadillos they are relatively common through the states, 3 banded are from central Brazil up to Panama and are extremely rare .

They are quite small also being around the size of a large Guinea pig weight around 3-4lb

Yes Dazza the four pictured are the two adult females and there almost weaned daughters.

The male is kept seperate as he is likely to kill the youngsters and persistantly pesters the females.

He is pictured as you can see doing his business

They are the most unusual pet, great pictures. Are they friendly? wouldnt imagine they are. What do you plan to do with the young? trade them with another breeder to expand your group?
