Star information required??
Hi guys. I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to lots of information on keeping stars. I currently have a horsfield but wanting to add another to my family (not together of course) but I seem to finding different information on how to house them and feed them. I know vivs for most people are a huge no no but I'm still reading that stars to be housed in a viv.
Confused lol Any star owners out there? Thanks |

I keep Indian stars. Mine live on the open tortoise table since I got them, but I keep cheramic heater on most of the time to provide 'hot spot' For the first 3 years or so it may be better to keep them in a vivarium, more stable temperature and easier to keep humidity level right. The substrate on the table dries out quickly.
I posted new photos of mine last week in Pictures section, you see they are slightly 'bumpy' but they are very active and happy pair. For 'baby' stars- get a vivarium until they are older. There is a nice thread somewhere on serring a viv for baby stars.

Hi, I also have stars, from my experience a Viv is good for young stars as it helps with humidity & heat control, stars are often shy and can do better in a smaller space when quite young. As they grow a table would also be great, I have a cross between the two for my adults (I'm sure there are photos of it on here). So which ever you choose would be ok so long as you can stabilise temp & humidity. Hope this helps
