True, they don't hibernate which is a big bonus for me to be honest. I have two other Torts that I haven't dared hibernate at all. Mind you they're still young. Horsefield is six and the Herman is only two. I'd miss them to be fair!

The feeding requirements of the Sulcata are very different from the other two. You have to think 'cow' when you think Sulcata! LOL I never give any of my Torts fruit either. Not worth the risk. They're very partial to dandelion flowers though!

Must admit I'm scared as hell of doing something wrong with one of them. Especially the baby Sulcata but she seems lively and is eating well and I soak her every single day.

Your right Linda sulcatas don't hibernate and should live 75 to 100 years. Females usually get 50 to 100 lbs and males 75 to 150 lbs. The largest pair I've ever heard of was a male 235lbs and a female 190lbs.

gosh 3 different types

i get worried with 1 type i have 4 redfoots

so eventually you will need 3 separate outdoors enclosures

and from what sahra says a spare garage ...

imagine a sulcata and the fence :lol

sahra

how quickly do they grow on a correct diet

You're spot on Dan! Only species of Tortoise where the female is smaller than the male as well.

Hi Linda, well there isn't something gorgeous about each breed of Tortoise that I have that I like. My Horsefield (Madge) is just such a robost little bugger and she follows me everywhere outside. If I sit down she comes and sits next to me! LOL My Herman (Flo) is still small and not as sociable yet as Madge, but given time and a little patience I'm hoping that will change.
So at the moment all three are in separate Tortoise tables, three UVB lamps, three basking lamps..............!!!!!!! LOL You'll probably know that they can't live together right?

Not exactly, the 2 island species Galapagos and Aldabra, the males are bigger then the females. The North American tortoises the males are bigger then the females. I know there's others

Really? Well there you go. One of the things you find on the internet is conflicting reports!

yes i know they have to live separatly

that was what made me curious how are you going to divy up the garden

especially when the sulcata gets to be a big person with a big personality

you will be able to bag up and sell tortoise dung

Well, I haven't actually thought that far ahead yet At the moment the other two sort of have half each. It's divided for them.
Buy a bigger house with a bigger garden?
