red foot heating

hi guys great forum just built a tort table for my 2 red foots they are 1 year old how would you heat the table ive got a 100watt ceramic thanks they are in a viv at the moment 84f 86% humidity sub is reptibark 3hrs on 2 hrs of uvb 2hrs back on then off untill next day any info that would be great

the viv is the best option for young red foots, you really need to buy a thermostat 32c hot end 20c night time , the humidity should be around 70%.

I keep my hot spot at 35-40 during the day to discourage them from sitting under the ceramic for too long, and drying out the carapaces too much (which is thought to be linked to pyramiding). They seem to display pretty natural basking behaviours in this way, in that they gather to bask first thing in the morning, then eat, then have a wander around and then shuffle off into there "burrows" for the afternoon. I also keep the cool end pretty dry and the hot end rather wet as i spray it daily. My overall humidity is 80%.

hi guys yes ive got a puls thermostate just seems hard to keep the heat stadle on a open tort table thats all

Hey Ash, the Habistat pulse proportional thermostats are good ones. I use the one with the day/night facility so you can incorporate a night time temperature drop.
I think reds are better in vivs as the temps will be more stable, as will the humidity. Probably not what you want to hear having now built a table!
I also have my UVB on for 12 hours a day which I believe is fine so long as the torts can move away from it.
