will have a look ty was under the impression that stars needed a diet that's high in fibre of course that dosent mean no protein at all tho which is why i was growing the rocket and i also treat him to some organic water cress,not sure what the protien content of some of the other things ive been growing is

Unfortunately for the new keeper those that preach 'high fiber/low protein' do not really tell you what is the required amount... not their fault... they don't really know.

Caution... Stars are highly prone to renal failure due to plants high in oxalic acid.

will def have a looksie at that web site for stars,im pretty confident that his diet is giving him enough variety as everything i have been feeding him are things i was told was ok by the breeder (marcus Langford) but would like to make sure

You do have the advice of one of the best Star Tortoise breeders around. Have you expressed your concerns to him. I'm willing to bet he has the records you can compare the development of your tortoises to.

was gonna give him a ring if the problem persists wanted to make a few small changes to my set up (uv striplight height drop) which i have done this afternoon and to replace the tube which is about 5 months old now as i had it turned on for a month or so before i got the tort for temp testing

i took mine to the vet the one had resipatory problems and they both had worms so both are been treated for both of them

ow no,least there getting treatment now ,i spoke to marcus yesterday he suggested slightly dropping the night time temp for my little fella and to make sure there was enough humidity as everything else i was doing (setup and diet wise) sounded fine.
i had my night time dimmer stat set at 24 instead of 20-22 as i have never seem him sleeping under his light i thought it was better to crank it up slightly thinking it would then be 20-22 ish where he slept
i have now turned it down to 22 and in a week or so i will drop it slightly to 20-21
Have also started spraying the substrate a bit more from last night

do you keep them in a viv or table?who was the breeder you got them off? how is the vet treating them? is he a reptile vet?

to keep a better humidity level try komodo cypress mulch when sprayed it helps to keep the humidity at a better level and torts like to bury themselves in it.
