Previously noted... Aldabraman is much more laid back.

Hello EJ , I think it is you that has the anger issues in the way that you replied to my comments, I never set out to be rude or offensive just wanted other tort keepers to think about a more natural diet for there torts if possible. you clearly set out to be rude and offensive on line and I don't think that this is acceptable after all we should all be trying to do whats best for the tortoises and I am glad to see that you agree a natural diet is best when ever possible . Lets leave it there thank you.

You're right... I'm nothing but a rotten, evil, self-centered B ******. I think I'll just go shoot myself.

aldabram man I really think you should do a bit of research about which members you choose, as a new member, to attack on the forum, Ej and many others are valued very experienced keepers and everyones advice whether its different from your own or not is welcomed on here. The old pellet versus weed has been going around for many years and some have success which pellets the same as some choose weeds alone or mix the two together. I personally think pellets have a place alongside weeds/plants especially for those who don't have the indepth plant knowlege to provide a good enough plant alone diet and the grassland and pro alpine are purely fibre pellets which as I'm sure you know sullys need a lot of.

Ann, I think Adabra man has an idea who he is talking to. I also think I've sent him litterature on their care a while back... I could be wrong... as I usually am...
One correction... Sulcatas don't NEED any more fiber than any other tortoise. The hay I give to my sulcatas... I give to my redfoots(yes, they eat it) and every other tortoise I have. (and... thank you for the support... you're so SWEEEEEET.) Quote:

Ok Correct me if im wrong..but i thought Sulcata are supposed to have a mostly grass based diet with less than 30% broad leaf weeds? during the winter in the uk i would imagine this is quite difficult to sustain without using some sort of dried prerperation either pellets or hay.

I don't know if it's 'wrong'... but all tortoises require the same basic needs. This is like Redfoots 'need' protein. All tortoises require the same protein, fibre and vitamins to put it all together.
Cut a Sulcata loose in a field of broad leaf weeds and grasses... it will probably not choose any one particular plant. Quote:

Yea... everyone wants to be right. The new keeper needs to understand that tortoise keepers are a passionate lot and want to believe their way is the right way. Then... they become tortoise keepers... and... their way is the right way.

The new guy said he wasn't meaning to cause offence in his first posts Ed, Jesus Christ!
Reading through this now Shelled Warriors is a VERY unfriendly place for newcomers What a shame
