I know the vets down here will send it away to be tested etc. Thats why the costs go up I suppose.

I rang round all the vets in my area before sending a sample to Hannah, one vet had the cheek to tell me that the actual test only cost £10 but they charged an additional £25 to send it away! Can you imagine? £25 to post a tiny poo I think not

Yep I had to pay £35 recently. not too pleased about that. I am thinking of getting a microscope and reading up on how to identify the different parasites. I can't imagine it would be that hard.
Has anyone else done this?

Lol and they wonder why keepers want to test things themselves.

Would there be any interest in a little lecture for those near me on how to check for parasites and what to look for. btw any exotic vet should so their own tests and send faeces away if concerned. this is because many single celled parasites die in transit and so are missed. also btw i charge about £10 for a feacal wet prep (parasite exam)

Hi Rodneyvet,
Where abouts are you? Am sure there will be lots of people interested. Also is it possible to send samples to you? |

this kind of worries me Rodney - as my vet (well - my torts vet, lol) came highly recommended and is a specialist reptile and tort vet... so am wondering why he doesnt check the tests himself...
