I will have a look, I presuming they eat a simular diet within the regions? Does anyone now which area most of our cb originated from?

Regarding feeding protein, this year mine have had less outside time due to the summer we've had, and probably stumbled across far less worms, snails etc than meds out 24/7 thoughout the summer so I have been supplementing their diet so far.

I think I mentioned this before but there is no way you can know where the origin of the adults are unless you importated them yourself... even then the information is sketchy... add to this the way they are shuffled... the babies are redfoots... that's all you can be sure of and even then it really does not matter. Y will find that all tortoises share a very basic similar requirement.

The only time you really have to worry about specific requirements is when acclimating wild caught animals.

so purina cat biscuits?? For mine as they are 7 months is it one biscuit between them?they have had egg and chicken

Hi Linds, its totally up to you what type of protein you feed. As seen in this thread most keepers ways differ slightly, some feed cat buscuits as well as chicken etc, others just biscuits. I stick mainly to worms and pinkies so cant offer advice into the amount you need to feed. Perhaps you could contact the member that uses the purina to see how many they feed to what weight tortoise and go from there.

Thanks joanna iv been feeding chicken and egg as their protein so I think il stick to that at the mo.when they are outside I'm sure they will eat worms etc!!thanks for your reply

I don't think anything made for mammals should be fed to reptiles. mammal diets seem to add fat... which is a necessity for mammals.
